Dispelling the ‘wasted vote’ myth!
Someone told me again today that a vote for me in Gillingham and Rainham is a waste, and I’ve heard it lots during the campaign.
It’s simply not true.
All anyone has is one vote, they cast it for the choice they make, that’s all anyone can do.
Let’s take an example – a couple, one is a Labour supporter, the other Conservative. They will both vote on election day. If the Labour or Conservative MP gets elected, does that mean the vote from the other person was wasted? Just because they didn’t win?
Because then your suggestion is that a vote for the other one of the major parties is a wasted vote the same as a vote for an Independent candidate like me is wasted…let’s not bother having a vote at all then?
It cannot be denied that the current system favours some over others, but to not vote because it’s considered a waste is counter logic – you will in fact waste it by not voting, opportunity that millions around the world would love to have.
For me locally that means biting the bullet and deciding to vote for an Independent MP, an opportunity that even less people have, but a positive chance for Gillingham and Rainham.
People have already voted for me by post – if enough others do, I get elected, end of story.
No vote is a waste.
One vote. One chance. Take it!
