My Campaign Platform

Here is my campaign platform in brief…

I believe an MP is elected to represent the views of the constituents.
I believe only an Independent MP can do this, as party MPs are expected to follow the party line.

Current MP is Labour’s Paul Clark, here is his voting record:
1997-2001, he voted with Labour 100% of the time.
2001-2005, he voted with Labour 99.4% of the time.
2005-current, he has voted with Labour 99.8% of the time.

Compare with the voting at the last election, where Labour only got 41.2% of the vote.
So nearly 60% of voters in the constituency voted against Labour.

So how well is Paul Clark representing the views of the constituents?

What I offer is that on every vote on legislation in Parliament, I will vote how the constituents tell me to.
If they want me to vote for a Bill, I will.
If they want me to vote against a Bill, I will.

That’s real representation of the voters, and what’s more, it’s not just a once in 4 or 5 years vote, it’s on every legislation, a real chance to have a say in the ways the laws of the land are shaped.
