Public Hustings Event

Great public hustings event last night, superbly organised by St.Mark’s church in Canterbury Street.
Over 250 people there, I got to answer a lot of questions, and told people to get in touch if they wanted more info, and I repeat that here – if you have anything you want to ask about my campaign, get in touch via the contact page, link on the right!

Labour’s Paul Clark said it was about choice,
Conservative Rehman Chisti said it was a chance for new politics so that people trust their politicians, for empowering residents.
Lib Dem Andy Stamp said it was a chance to focus on local candidates.

I offer a totally new way of doing things, giving real empowerment by allowing the constituency to decide my MP vote on all legislation.
It’s a chance the local constituency has, if I were elected, think of all the constituencies around the country who would say ‘wow! if only we’d had that opportunity!’

Well, Gillingham and Rainham *has* that opportunity!
Vote for an Independent MP!

Remember You Can Have An Independent MP!

As you may be watching the 3rd leaders’ debate on the BBC tonight, do not forget that the 3 main parties are *NOT* the only choice.

Gillingham and Rainham has the opportunity to elect an Independent MP.
An Independent MP is not aligned to any party, which means I can represent the constituents without worrying about playing party politics, which is such a turn off for the voters.

It means that on every vote on legislation, I will cast my MP vote how the constituency tells me.
Not my decision, not any party leader, but the decision of the constituency.

It’s real representation of the constituents, which is what an MP is there to do.

Ask me any questions if you want via the ‘contact’ page, and tell as many people as you can – it’s the main problem for the Independent to battle against the main parties.

An Independent Candidate has to fund everything from his (my) own pocket.
This is well over £1000 so far. Not a fortune, but not small change either.

Obviously if you are in my constituency you can help me by voting for me, but wherever you are you can help by making a donation – here is the secure online donation page:
http://www.gordonbryan.com/donate

If you make a donation, I will give you copy of my book ‘Transform Your Life in 21 Days!’ which I wrote in 2003.

Your donation can be as little as £1, it all helps, and I will email you the book. You can see the book’s salespage here:
http://www.gordonbryan.com/transform

The book is about the motivational, goal achievement and self improvement techniques I have used since I was 18 to have some great adventures!
Just to be clear, any donations will be declared by me as donations, that’s a legal requirement on me.
The book’s page is here:

The secure donation page is here:

Also remember to check out my other videos and posts on this blog, and do not hesitate to get in touch via the contact page.
Maybe you have a question, or someone who would like to talk to me about my campaign.
Thanks!

Dispelling the ‘wasted vote’ myth!

Someone told me again today that a vote for me in Gillingham and Rainham is a waste, and I’ve heard it lots during the campaign.
It’s simply not true.

All anyone has is one vote, they cast it for the choice they make, that’s all anyone can do.

Let’s take an example – a couple, one is a Labour supporter, the other Conservative. They will both vote on election day. If the Labour or Conservative MP gets elected, does that mean the vote from the other person was wasted? Just because they didn’t win?

Because then your suggestion is that a vote for the other one of the major parties is a wasted vote the same as a vote for an Independent candidate like me is wasted…let’s not bother having a vote at all then?

It cannot be denied that the current system favours some over others, but to not vote because it’s considered a waste is counter logic – you will in fact waste it by not voting, opportunity that millions around the world would love to have.

For me locally that means biting the bullet and deciding to vote for an Independent MP, an opportunity that even less people have, but a positive chance for Gillingham and Rainham.
People have already voted for me by post – if enough others do, I get elected, end of story.
No vote is a waste.
One vote. One chance. Take it!

My mailshot and how you can help

My leaflet has now started arriving in 30,000 houses. Someone at work had hers with her and was showing people. This is a great idea, and would help me get more leverage from them…

I sent 30,000 instead of 43,000 as 30,000 was all I could afford (£500), so if you are in the constituency and get a leaflet, read it, and if you like it, put it in your pocket and show it to someone else in the constituency, telling them about me.
That will help for sure, so thanks!

Don’t Get Hung Up About A Hung Parliament

It’s not just the media that is in a frenzy over the possibility of a hung parliament – the Conservative party is spending an amazing amount of time and money to say ‘don’t choose a hung parliament’.
Of course the media has latched onto this, because it’s the media’s own interest to create stories!

You cannot vote for or against a hung parliament – whether one ends up is a result of what you *do* vote for.
To suggest wanting or not wanting a hung parliament as the basis or your vote is simply ludicrous.

No, your vote should be a positive choice – in Gillingham and Rainham I hope that’s a choice for an Independent MP who will be a representative fo constituents’ views.

It’s that which should be the basis of your vote – forget the media hype over possible results!

Video 9 – Too Many Decisions

This video covers the fact that in a General Election, we have to make a decision about who we agree with on such a wide range of subjects, it becomes bewildering for many.
What I offer is that you get your say on every legislation, not once on a range of subjects every 4 or 5 years, but every time.
As an Independent MP I would be a representative of the voters’ views, not making the decisions as any party leadership told me.

Video 7 concentrates on what a hung parliament actually means, how it would affect me, and that it would not change what I offered the constituents of Gillingham and Rainham:

Viedo 6 is a reminder of my manifesto, which is all about proper representation of constituents by your MP, which I don’t believe any party MP can do.
